A new business venture by Savannah author and TV celebrity chef Paul Deen is getting a multimillion-dollar investment from a private equity company that is part owner of Phoenix Suns NBA team. The investment, reportedly $75 million to $100 million, from an affiliate of Najafi Cos., headed by Jahm Najafi, is designed “to build and grow” Paula Deen Ventures, according to the Phoenix-based investment firm.

Mr. Najafi earned his Masters in Business and Economics from Harvard University after earning his B.A. in Economics and Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

He is Vice Chairman for the Phoenix Suns and an A Governor on the board of the National Basketball Association.
