The Republican Party is the party of the rich. No hypocrisy involved.

How are they hypocrites? They aren't a socialist party.

While I don't agree with them doing this as people do need cars especially if they have lots of dependents. I do believe that they need to make it a little more stricter or have tighter regulations on who gets government aid, because there are just way too many people on it abusing the system.
Just the other day I was watching the news (by the way this is the third time I've heard this), was a couple who lived in a million dollar house and had been receiving all kinds of government aid...one was on section 8 as well, while living on a house on a lake in Seattle...and I think the husband was a doctor or something too.

But while I understand that there are people who truly need help, it becomes too easy for some people to become relaxed and not try better their situation to get off such aids.

There was a law they were trying to pass that people who received TANF (temporary assistance for needy families) that they should be required to pass drug screenings, because people were using their cash assistance to support their drug habits...but that would only apply to people with a history of drug abuse.

So they are going back to da old days:D

I happen to agree that in certain cases, if you can afford worth that much there is a problem. I'm speaking for my own experience of where I'm from. I know people on section 8 that live better than people that get up and bust their rump for 8 hours a day. I got family members that walked into the aid office, got their stamps, money, and medical and didn't really do a [email protected] thing for it. I got laid off and all I got was 60 bucks to help feed a family of four. I have a friend that when burh lost his job after 20yrs on the job, they told him no, to everything. The system is broken plain and simple and has been broken for years. I was almost on aid when I graduated, but I was too lazy to get up and go downtown with my moma to get signed up.

There is no reason why people in my generation and on should be in the situation they are in. I'm talking specifically about the people that just don't want to work and want everything given to them.

    Ok..you can flame me now....

    Peace!

The bill proposed was for ANYONE, not just those with a history of drug abuse, who applied for TANF to take a drug test.... even though it has been found that people on welfare are less likely to be drug addicts than the rest of the population. In fact, they were something like TWICE as likely not to be on drugs as Congress. Which, I suppose, is why it didn't pass.

Bill Clinton passed the Welfare Reform Act in the 1990s where people can be on monetary assistance for no more than 5 years..... in their lifetime! Since that time, the welfare rolls across the country have gone down between 75 and 80%.

lmao.. I understand where you're coming from, but I am thinking about people who are out there busting their a*^ to find work especially when their job was to take care of a sick parent for example and because of that, you lose (get fired) the job you did have and have a hard time finding another one. but I agree nonetheless, there are people out there who abuse the system, like the whole welfare thing, and how drug tests are now required, and I don't blame them for requiring that in some states.

This is just a big mess sista because there were plenty of people trying to learn a trade to get a job but Reagan cut all of those programs with the help of the national "Black" Caucus. Yeah, Our own helped whity stick it to us.

Drug tests are NOT required to get on welfare.

As for cars, we city folk have to remember that not everyone has access to public transportation. People in rural areas without cars find it almost impossible to find or get to work.

last time I checked, in some states, it is required, unless I am mistaking it for something else. as a matter of fact, i think the state i'm in, it IS required.

Yes, I have personally had to do this and all I could do was say [email protected]..ain't this some ish for ya. They get up, don't wash day *** then smoke their weed and hit the streets. Come in early in the morning, lay day funky *** up in bed just to do it all ova the next day....

    See ya got me ranting...:(

    Peace!
