Pardon me, if my vernacular is to spectacular for you particular comprehension
However, you have the wrong perception of the conception of my dissertation
Education was truly my salvation through my seasons of trials and tribulation
It's your misconception that I emulate a deception for the world's reception
But, my dedication to the application of wisdom is for my ancestor's emancipation

Through my righteous forefathers timeless effort I stand tall and proud
So it excuse me if I won't lower myself to your level and be ghetto and loud
It's not inside me to be the spitting image of the master's fabrication
He tells the world that we are ignorant and beyond any redemption

And you are fitting right into the ideal that he's feeding the world at large
You're polluting the air w/ ignorance and thinking you're the big man in charge
I understand that we are all a product of our environment and circumstances
Yet even in the ghetto opportunity knocks but you have to take your chances

So the next time you see me walking down the street don't knock my speech
Who's fault is it that you choose to act like intellectual capacity was beyond your reach
Yielding instead to the stereotypes that they say are all that you can achieve
As you stand across the street and ridicule me, for you ignorance I truly grieve

    Hi asimplepoet,

That's right k*ll em' with intelligence, the most effective weapon. There is no need to apologize for being articulate. There will always be that pack of hyenas who make an effort to downplay your intelligence, all in the name of bringing about some sick global ghetto balance:rolleyes:
It's good to see you taking a stand against ignorance.

I really enjoyed reading this piece:welldone:

    Thanks

Thank you for all for the love shown. This was one was a little personal. I went from gangsta to college grad, so people from the neighborhood are always talking about talking white and putting on airs.

It's a shame that so many give props to those things that pull us down, instead of what elevates us. So far down can't look up it seems. Just do you...wonderful write.

All I have to say iz amen amen, I get that "why u talk like u white" where I'm from to. I play in a predominatly black band and the campus where the band is located is also predominatly black actully there are only 2 students in the whole school that are of the non-African America race. But I attend a school entitled the Academic Magnet Highschool. The difference the predominatly black school got a failing grade when the county schools got graded and my school passed but also students and class pics were took for NewsWeek's magazine for ranking 10th in the nation out of 22,000 other schools in education. I'm in percussion section and we always get into heated arguments because the section leader refers to us as ****** when the section is cutin up. I always loud him out and say excuse me I am not anyone's ***** and I am not apart of anyones "disadvantage race" the meaning of the word. Get this they actually argue against me on behalf of saying the word is not offensive and then they encourage it's use. When speaking to them I also tell them that I do not down grade my speech for anyone and I tell the ones that try to make a mockery of me "if you can't understand me then go by a **** dictionary and expand your horizon" Scribe on poet I totally and whole heartedly agreed with every word of this drop!

This needed to be said I went to a magnet school that was predominatly black but the program I was in was more deversified. And I can recall being ridiculed for the color of the people I associated with by my black peers. I was turning on my roots according to them. I was achieving more if you ask me.
