Pain In Your Eyes

I can see the pain on your face Lord
When you come again
To collect those few who were faithful
From this world full of sin
You came and showed us exactly what to do to live a life pleasing in your sight
And to see us gone so far astray I can’t imagine what it’s like
You gave it all, everything, your last breath, you gave your life
And what anguish you must feel to look down when all we do is cause you strife
To look down and see sin swiveling on every end
To see females with other women and see men sleeping with men
To see the extent of fornication
Sex ain't just for married folk any more
But this gift that you gave,
Used so pleasure can be made
Starting at such a young age
Leading to the epidemic of AID’s
So mush pain, so much dying
I can see the face of Jesus crying
To see all these teenage pregnancies
And those who shed the blood of innocent life
Not mature enough to pay the price
To see the purity of young bodies destroyed and taken by force
To see the high rising rate of marriages ending in divorce
When they swore upon your name it’d be for better or for worse
I can imagine all the pain you must feel
To know that some live their life just to cheat, lie and steal
To see so many conquered by death due to murder and suicide
Or some because they take of the liquor bottle then decide to go for a drive
To see it is too late for them because they’re gone and never called on your name
For so many people live their life just thinking it’s a game
To see their souls burn for eternity
I know this must cause you pain
To see us so-called “Christians” living in a comfort zone
Thinking if you go to church on Sunday that’s it, you’re done you can go home
When in reality it’s us who should be reaching out to those
Who have been labeled as dealers, strippers, prostitutes, and ho’s
The very same people to whom we turn up our nose
Because they are gay or lesbian or can’t afford our nice clothes
And when they come into your place we pass judgment on them
When truth is we ain’t no better because we’ve all fell short through sin
Instead of opening our arms and welcoming them in
We make them feel like church is a place that they will never go again
And that’s one soul lost when our mission is to gain
Lord God I can feel your pain
When we need something we never hesitate to call on your name
When we are in trouble and can’t pull through
That’s the only time we call on you
You woke us up and gave us life
You provided safety through the night
And through the day, Lord you made a way
But still we never find the time to say
Thank you Lord, or praise your name
I would hate to think if you did us the same
If for just one day you took your hand away
We would probably curse you Lord, and go astray
I wish we all had the mind of brother Job
But it seems that kind of dedication has grown old
We only thank you when the skies are blue
But I thank you for the rain that you send too
If life was perfect we would have never knew
Just how able you were to pull us through
But it seems the world we live in is full of pain
And then we wonder why it is this way
‘Cause we’re not humble… didn’t I hear you say;
That if we were, and if we would pray
You would heal the land, but not until that day
Well then, I wonder what is the delay?
We know exactly what it is that we must do
Abandon this old world and focus more on you
I can see the pain in your eyes
It’s written on your face
After those faithful few were gone without a trace
The one’s who were left behind and couldn’t part take of your grace
You gave them a chance, but the choice they wouldn’t make
To follow you and now it is too late
And some will realize, and they will cry out to you
But others will be obdurate, and still not believe the word is true
The sun will darken, and the moon will turn to blood
The earth will tremble and be consumed in a firesome flood
Turmoil will reign; the devil will rule the earth
He will torment your people as if they have no worth
I can see the pain on your face Lord
As these things come to pass
To see your people suffer until in the fire Satan is cast
But the worst pain of it all must be for us to know we missed our chance
Because we became too consumed in the things of this world,
And it had us in a trance
I can see the pain in your eyes my Lord
I can see the pain on your face
To see so many blinded by the devil in disguise
To see so many caught up in his numerous lies
To see our surprise on the day of our demise
The goodbyes…a result of your existence denied
Although all were apprised, but not many were wise
And now the sinner-man cries
I see the pain in your eyes
I can see the pain on your face
To see that so many people needlessly missed out on your grace
I can see the pain on your face Lord
I can see the pain in your eyes
