It's before noon, and the blizzard
has begun, tiny snowflakes falling
like ice crystals upon cold faces
yet inside, I hear a voice calling
softly, whispering my name
in front of the fireplace of your soul
relaxing on a woolen blanket
almost forgetting about the whole
world outside of us, the ground
now carpeted in granules of white.
Folks gingerly stepping through piles
of snow, while our line of sight
is transfixed on smiles and reciprocal
blushing glances, embers in our eyes
are dancing. Savoring picnic basket treats and
sipping wine, we fall deeper into Cupid's guise.
Bitter winds, crystal flakes scatter,
fingertips tingle, as teeth begin to chatter
shovels dig for hidden trails, snow balls hurled
amid children's laughter, the blizzard doesn't matter
as two get lost in a mellow, lingering kiss, I
turn over, and he sighs, as our bodies spoon,
spent, we reminisce over the bliss just shared
as our winter wonderland now rests under the moon.
