Black History Month is six months away, but why wait to tell Our Story. I believe there's more to Black history than slavery, civil rights and who was the first Black to do this or that. Starting in September (now) you can read Our Story, a series of articles showing how we have contributed in different areas. Thus when Black History Month proper arrives, we will know we have a lot to celebrate.

This month's article is about African Americans in literature and introduces the reader to the luminaries of the Harlem Renaissance.

In the movie "The Great Debaters" Denzel's character was telling his black about this group of poets that were using their works to change the minds of Black Americans in terms of how we think,

    Peace!

Black History encompasses more than African-American history. It started in the motherland, not the U.S.A. I wish they'd change the name of the month, myself. Make it more reflective of reality - U.S., motherland, (other countries in) the diaspora. Now that's a lotta history!

River, eye have always thought that you were a sweet heart (eg. as a matter of fact, my thoughts have not changed).

OUR STORY and vast contributions to the world exceed 28 short days during a non leap year cycle and 29 days during a full leap year cycle; therefore, start thinking outside the box, that is: 365/24/7 a year!!! ;)
