GAMBIAN WHO CHANGED THE WORLD

Dutty Boukman was a Gambian sold into slavery. He toiled at a plantation in Jamaica. He was later sold to the French in what was Saint Dominic now Haiti. He was the architect of the Haitian revolution and helped ushered the first independent black state in the northern hemisphere.
