Black People Politics : Open Letter To President George Bush

Sis DESTEE,

I AM obliged to consider that even though the standards set within this society are fundamentally 'spiritually' based, how many are ever genuinely up-held?

Adversely, in the final analysis it is never what a man say's but, what he does that will define him.

(Which at least to this end, OUR Ancestors even agree.)

I don't think that in this case it was the media that set itself to 'judge' Mr. Bevel, it was his own daughters. (Even the media cannot 'spin' that.)

As has been hisstorically OUR only saving grace, OUR Ancestors held as paramount, a different set of communicative 'standards,' (which I try daily to incorporate into MY OWN life,) thus I continue to watch MY People everywhere, to learn and be taught in the way's of OUR Great Fathers, which in reality is all, that OUR People so desperately need.

So as usual, I see it as MY DUTY to Family.

In regard to YOUR legaliistic question, I AM sure that euro-prosecutors would probably tell YOU that such is in the interest of 'due-process.' A man's 'right to a fair trial. (Whatever in the he!! in this society, that means.)

I wonder what OUR Ancestors would have said?

Naw Sis DESTEE, at seventy years old facing these kinds of charges, ain't where nobody ought to be.

That old saying 'where there's smoke, there's fire' not-withstanding, nevermind what the courts say, if he did do it, how could he live with himself?

ROARIN.........
While I do not condone the "behavior" behind this Rev. Bevel, I find it strange that the Prosecutor is doing all of the talking, and not the daughters. In fact, I wonder if the Media even REALLY spoke to the daughters - better yet, I would not be surprised to find out that even the People coming up against him have done dirt...

Furthermore, how about blasting this person...http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070703/ap_on_re_us/la_mayor

I personally am sick of this trying to take down Black folks who take a stand for Our People. I will be the first to admit that I have done dirt in my life; no question about it. Will you hold it against me NOW, or when I begin to strive hard making things better for Our People?

I'm out.

ROARIN.........

What are you talking about, just because a "Daughter" is involved, white folk can't put a spin on it? Every female is someone's daughter, and many have been used as traps and snares for Black Men. Not only have Daughters been used, but so too have Sons, Sisters, and Brothers. There is no group of people that has not been used, or played some part, in our collective condition.

I don't know the whole story behind our Beloved Ancestor's Daughters, Malcolm, having something to do with an alleged plot against Farrakhan. I don't remember the details, but it was ultimately determined that those "Daughters" were used.

My point is ... we should not be so quick to believe low down dirty stuff about Black Men.

Being a Black Man yourself ... seems you'd agree ... but nonetheless, do what you must.

I offered the article in the interest of clarity.

I neither wrote the article nor, solicited it.

Why kill the messanger....rather than the mess?

ROARIN.......
...If you are asking me, I attacked the "mess" moreso than the "messenger." Neither way, I feel that the point to be made is well understood by everyone.

Reverend Bevel A Sign of the Times

If Rev. Bevel is guilty or not, his experieince is a symbol to all of the world that our people are suffering still, from the pains of slavery. Consider the charge incest. From where did incest come. Incest was forced on our people during slavery. Slaves had to live in close proximity to each other on the plantations. (James Bevel was born and raised on a plantation). They did not have the option of going from one plantation to the other to secure a mate. No they had to inter-breed on the plantation they were on. The only slave that could go from plantation to plantation was the stud. Incest is rampant among Black people and White people. We should not judge each other for the ills we suffered in slavery, we need to support and enforce the need to heal. There has never been a therapeutic process administered that will restore us to our natural manhood and womanhood. James Bevel did a lot for Black people. Now what are we willing to do for him.

The Governor of the State of Virginia was the first to apologize for slavery. Now Bevel is being tried in Virginia, what a coincidence. Should we just accept an apology or can we resurrect our brother/s and sisters who are being punished for the programming and conditioning acquired during slavery. There is no family in America that has not been affected by incest or some other sexual misconduct, that was a direct result of learned behavior from slavery.

We are just forty years from slavery (marked by signing of the Civil Rights Act), James Bevel was born in it and lived in it, He worked to get the monkey off his back. If he was incapable of addressing the learned behavior of incest, then we as the recipients of his work, need to dedicate ourselves to eradicating this. slavery destroyed the boundaries of inter-personal family relationships.

Go back to Wikipedia and you will find a book on his contributions to obtaining the Right To Vote. You will be surprised at what you read. Also the book The Enslavement of A Free People at lulu.com is an excellent one to read.
