...from a Black man, not afraid to be truthful and clear...

Though this was meant to be a praise and adulatory prose, in the honor of Black women…by using the word “ONLY” and the way it was versed, made it really a twisted piece of garbage!!

This is nothing but a “Stella Got Her Groove Back” placation, meant for self-adulation, self-aggrandizement and female flagellation. Try again… dstny

I agree brother Sun Ship! There are a lot of subtle "stabs" at black men in this message. Black women deserve praise! I praise my mother, my wife, my daughter. I praise the sisters of my race...their accomplishments...their achievements. Yet it is not necessary to praise black women while simultaneously criticizing black men.

Traps are always baited with sweet meats...

Brother Panafrica some years ago there was a book written by a Black female scholar who dealt with this type of superwoman view of Black women, that is based more so on a sort of female–machismo that has been more debilitating to the life-reality of Black women rather than uplifting.

It started in slavery of course, but the image was promoted and caricaturized in film and media starting with the unfeminine bossy "mammy" image, to the belligerent smart-mouth ghetto Queen; building an image of a one-sided man-less avenger of independent womanhood, while the white woman is allowed to be viewed in the context of normality and with all of the social complexities of femininity.

What’s sad about this is when we buy into the stereotype. After a while, what looks like honorable traits, becomes unknowingly self-destructive to our being. So while at least “Stella” may have gotten her groove back, the majority of Black women are without mates, being incarcerated in large numbers, increasingly dying from ill-health and diseases and Black women with children are the largest homeless population there is.

This society has always put sugar on our demise and then tells us to enjoy the taste.

In other words… It’s like… “Let me torture you, rape you and destroy your world and then tell everybody how strong you are”

And I don’t even want to get started on this crap quoted below:

This sister most of just finished watching Monster's Ball when she wrote that one...

Black women are beautiful. but with so many "Only A black womans" don't be surprised if some of these sisters grow old by themselves

That one particular verse did not escape my notice either brother SunShip. Translation the black woman is justified in everything she does (unlike the black man), and should never be criticized in her decisions...again unlike the black man.
