Black Poetry : one step forward, two steps back

[mochablaze]

I take one step forward
and two steps back
never seeing the qualities that he lacks,
but getting caught up way to fast.
An indication that things weren't meant to last,
But somehow I've fallen right into his playa trap.
Knowing better because I've been there before
so this is no mishap.
I take one step forward to let myself love,
but got knocked somehow two steps back.
Looking up suddenly to find I live in his lap.
Independant, opinionated black woman
now puttin' up with this man's crap.
D***!
I took one step forward
only to end up where I began at.

Whoa...It sure goes this way sometimes, because you so want to believe the bull, even though you know what that smell is. This was right on point poet.
