This morning I had an epiphany
I have stayed one day to many
I'm leaving while I can still leave
And thank God for the reprieve
For I am walking out of pure hell
With a story to confess and tell
Usually when it over I stop at the door
And ponder on all that happened before
But that won't be happening this time jack
Because I'm leaving and never looking back
For I could suffer the curse of Lot's wife
For even thinking about revisiting this life
I've got the evidence of you love on my face
And I know I make it out alive only with grace
For you got that kind of love that could kill
I should of left the very first time blood was spilled
But I got suckered into your apologies of lies
But this morning I am waking so much better & wise
For I ain't going to take anymore of this madness
As I walk away my heart is filled with gladness
The further I get away the lighter my burdens feel
And you lose every bit of your hold and appeal
Thank God this morning he gave me an epiphany
For this could of been my one day too many

Written in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It time to start loving some sisters out of some situations. And not looking down on them for you can't know the half of it till you walk a mile in their shoes.

    Asimplepoet...

Your words paint a portray of one of the happier ending to an abusive relationship, which is definitely cause to rejoice in the mercy of THE LORD!

I feel your words. We can show sisterhood, by donations of money, clothes and time to safe havens for women and children in our areas. We may never walk a mile in their shoes, but we can get involved and help lighten the weight on their shoulders.

Thanks for sharing this touching piece and bringing light to a serious matter.

    Be Blessed!

To be able to look back at such with relief, instead of never being able to look forward again. Props to you for bringing the plight of domestic abuse to the forefront.

This made my eyes water. Not from sadness
but from happiness from the strength
that shines through. Chances are if you are not a victim
yourself you know someone that is or has been.

This was my favorite part of this piece, that moment when you say
enough is enough and just walk away.....

But this morning I am waking so much better & wise
For I ain't going to take anymore of this madness
As I walk away my heart is filled with gladness
The further I get away the lighter my burdens feel

    Awesome scribe!!!!
