    All
    I ever did
    Right
    Was
    Have
    One Black Baby

    One Black Baby

    For us
    All
    To celebrate
    Life
    And light
    In our
    Dark-skinned selves

    And
    Nobody told me
    About
    The sickle Cells

    Or
    About that place
    Where the
    Slave babies
    Still dwell

    And
    I didn't know
    That
    Communities could
    Cripple

    And
    Force
    Black Babies
    To wear braces

    On their
    Strong
    Hind
    Legs

    In a world
    Where
    Wheelchairs
    Raise money
    For Telethons

    Black Babies
    Sit
    Backstage
    While
    The band
    Just plays on
    And on

    Because
    Nobody
    Really wants
    To hear

    Their
    Birth
    Right
    Song

    Nobody
    Wants
    To be
    Reminded
    About

    Where
    they truly
    Belong

    To them
    It is just

    One more Black Baby...

    That's why
    Black Mama's
    Sing

    Their
    Love songs
