someplace dreams are made of
Occupation
student, advocate to change the world
i walk
like time scrapes through my nap-*** hair--
un-braided and slighty presentable--
people be pushin and shoving--
can't sit on the seat by the door--
the "onion people"* be there
and ******--
yes ****** (both black and WHITE)
be ready to snatch whatever lies 'round--
yo neck yo wrist yo fingaz--

45 minute ride--
Rochdale Apartments (QUEENS)
to Manhattan

walking again--
stride tempermented--
as if my feet are angry--
elevated by two hundred stairs--
and one elevator ascending 12 floors--

walking again--
this time slower--
as if my stare controls time--
right turn--
sixteen steps--
slouched in chair...
another
day.

espee--
