Was Minister Louis Farrakhan not invited to the March on Washington?

Recently, on the Carl Nelson show many people called in to ask one question. They asked. Why Minister Louis Farrakhan ,who was the major force in getting the Million Man March to work , was not invited to the March on Washington on August 24, 2013. Carl Nelson is a radio talk show host heard around the United States.
During the show, many people started to talk about boycotts of the March on Washington and other activities but , others did not want the divide and conquer to happen because one high profile individual was not invited to an event.
After sometime went past during the show, Nelson stated that he received a tweet that Farrakhan was invited to the March that will occur on August 21, 2013. Rumor has it that this is the rich people's march and the President will speak.

    "rich people's march"?

What a dishonor to the Man who led the Poor People's Campaign!

As far as Farrakhan is concerned, no comment!

    I can only imagine:

The Brother Minister showing up, strolling among the crowd, just one among the tens and tens and tens...it'd probably look like a great and unexpected *people-implosion*--expanding, circular wave-form going on (when viewed from above with a drone camera)...with a central focus. Talk about the incalculable effect of a strange attractor...

I'd bet some folk would think a fight had broken out. Oh, the outrage! Anyhow...

March security--*his NOI security, too*--would be on highest alert.

I think this is much ado about nothing. Why does he need a formal invitation to be at this event? Were there such invitations to the MMM?

Farrakhan said MLK died because he didn't have a vision. Farrakhan is for separation and is against many of things King stood for.

Weren't there alot of speakers at the MMM? Also, I'm guessing that all of the speakers that day were invited speakers, too(?).

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Million_Man_March

"The Million Man March, considered one of the most important modern events of African-American civil rights, was a gathering en masse of social activists. Called by Louis Farrakhan, it was held on and around the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on October 16, 1995. The National African American Leadership Summit, a leading group of civil rights activists and the Nation of Islam working in conjunction with scores of civil rights organizations this is copy and paste including many local chapters of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (but not the national NAACP) formed the Million Man March Organizing Committee. The founder of the National African American Leadership Summit, Dr. Benjamin Chavis, Jr. served as National Director of the Million Man March.
The committee invited many prominent speakers to address the audience, and African American men from across the United States converged on Washington in an effort to “convey to the world a vastly different picture of the Black male”[1] and to unite in self-help and self-defense against economic and social ills plaguing the African American community.
The march took place within the context of a larger grassroots movement that set out to win politicians’ attention for urban and minority issues through widespread voter registration campaigns.[2] A parallel event called the Day of Absence, organized by female leaders in conjunction with the March leadership, occurred on the same date, and was intended to engage the large population of black Americans who would not be able to attend the demonstration in Washington. On this date, all blacks were encouraged to stay home from their usual school, work, and social engagements, in favor of attending teach-ins, and worship services, focusing on the struggle for a healthy and self-sufficientblack community. Further, organizers of the Day of Absence hoped to use the occasion to make great headway on their voter registration drive.[3]
Although the march won support and participation from a number of prominent African American leaders, its legacy is plagued by controversy over several issues. The leader of the march, Louis Farrakhan, is a highly contested figure whose biting commentary on race in America has led some to wonder whether the message of the march can successfully be disentangled from the controversial messenger..."

Offhand, IONO what's in the planners' minds and hearts (I only suspect, to be fair to them), but it seems like when Tavis Smiley and Dr. West do their annual do about African America, they are OK with inviting the Brother Minister to those events. He's done alot of them (if not all of them), and is usually warmly received by the panels and the audiences. Still....

If the MOW planners don't want dude to participate then it's their call--same as it was MLFM's call to invite them (back in '95).

Many of them were not invited. I was by the stage for a while. You should have seen all the "dignitaries" that, even though they pooh poohed the march, begged to get on stage.
