I feel like ole’ man blues is after me
Giving chase like a mugger after a mark
Like I’m alone in the dark and wide open
Gotta keep movin’ ‘cause it seems like
    misery is doggin’ my heals
and it’s so easy to just stay still
    and let it overtake me
I feel like I just escaped and still
he’s comin’ to take me down if I’m not careful
I get busy and stay busy
Keep movin’ and stay movin’ ‘cause I know
    he’s right around the corner
in the dark alleys of my mind
    waiting for the right moment
the right corner to hem me up
and jack me for all my joy
rob me for all I’m worth
    I feel like he’s on a mission
Like he knows how low I’ve been
    And can’t stand to see
    a brother break free
I feel like I can hear his footfalls
Creepin’ up from the dark recesses of my mental
After me like I got something that belongs to him
But I ain’t trying to be no victim
    No statistic
I know I gotta keep on movin’ in the right direction
I see light just up ahead
Always just up ahead but I gotta keep movin’
Knowing if I stay on the right path
    I’ll get there
And finally lose ole’ man blues
With all of his sorrow and misery
    Pain and affliction
    Worry and doubt
I think he knows that I’m just about
    out…

    ol man blue
    meet ol girl love
please feel free to hold on tight like a glove

i tell ya she will always be around
love is what you should found
    love is bound

    to stay within your heart
you must embrace this emotion from the start

ol man blues can never stand a chance
the feeling of dispair honey will dance

    away to never return again
ol girl love wants to be your friend
    she will mend

any broken pieces that may lie dormant
she wants me to tell you of her being the informant

to let you know she wont be far
be looking for her in a red chevy car

to take Ol Man Blues away
isnt it neat Ol Girl Love is here to save the day
    to pray

that Ole Man Blues will forever be gone
and i tell ya peace will be in your home

Great piece depicting how age can creep up on you like a beast in the night. Hey, but we can still do so gracefully. Enjoy your style.

Thanks Tantrum man! Much love to ya!

Watzinaname, though I wrote about depression, I can see now how
it could easily be about age too!
    Dig the perspective. Thanks!

I enjoyed readin this poem, felt like i was being chased myself...lol, had to look behind me a couple times....lol

Really tho, the flow was tyte, really went well with the depth of the poem, and i really liked the symbolism for who "he" was that was actually chasin...im real young...but in a way i can relate

in other words it was Fiyah...
