Dessert Cookie Cake Recipe : Old-Fashioned Banana Pudding

1 tablespoon - vanilla
8 tablespoons - white sugar
4 - egg whites (room temperature)
Box Vanilla Wafers
1/2 stick - butter
3 cups - milk
4 - eggs (seperated)
3 tablespoons - flour
1 1/2 cups - sugar
1 tablespoon - vanilla
3-4 - Bananas (ripe, but not too ripe)


Directions

Ingredients together. Beat Egg Yolks slightly in sauce pan. ADD Milk gradually, Continue to Blend over Medium heat. ADD Sugar/Flour mixture slowly into Milk/Egg mixture. Gradually Blend over Medium Heat. ADD Butter. Stir Constantly until Thick. ADD Vanilla and let mixture .. Cool.

Butter an Oblong Pyrex or other dish alternate vanilla wafers, banana slices (about 1/8" to 1/4" thick), and "cooled" pudding into layers, covering bottom with Vanilla Wafers first. Let COOL.

Topping:

4 - egg whites (room temperature)
8 tablespoons - sugar
1 teaspoon - vanilla

Beat egg whites until stiff. Slowly beat in sugar until smooth and STIFF. Fold in vanilla. Cover cooled pudding with meringue. Bake in 350 degree oven until golden brown.
