    You Are Off The Chain!

It is an infectious pop phrase you and I have heard a dozen of times if not more. With it officially being Black History Month I couldn't think of a more fitting theme to celebrate the rich roots of history and the enduring legacy of our black culture. Sadly though we have come to associate this term with clowning and just being an outright buck wild child. However, this term in all its reality defines our Freedoms that have been won through many a struggles in the past. To redefine the phrase to its truer meaning I've enclose my version of "Off the Chain!" in hopes to make us all self actualize that we are no longer binded shackles or oppression but free by our faith to accomplish any and everything we put our minds to. With the chains fully dropped let us no longer stare at opportunity, but let us make moves. Run hastily towards progress the same way our ancestors sprinted towards Freedom and A New Destiny for us all!

    Off The Chain!

    I pray for these chains
    This pretzel metal
That holds me dear to the past
Pray for these chains rusting orange
    Wrapping over my wrists making
Autumn rings around my midnight skin
On this black planet called me
I pray for these chains that lock
    To hold me back
    Eat humiliation
    Chew humble crumbs
I sing praises to these chains
    For they are ancestral ties
    To incivility before my
Civil rights ever came to Dawn
I pray for these falling chains
Hopefully to lay my burdens down
Cause these chains no longer can love me
Allow erosion to rust my mind
    For I am loosed
A shooting star, being shot at
Free to let my dreams run wild though the dark
Black, sweaty, and nervous like those Negroes before me
I sing Hallelujah to these chains once a figment my mind
    While I was blind
Until I realized I was not the best
But the blessed with a mind
    To seek those words
Spoken by the “Great I Am”
The Lord who saved my soul
Who said you are loved forever linked to me
Chained by faith and not constrained by color
    To scream my child
    Scream who you really are
    Scream, “I’m Black!”
    “I’m Off The Chain!”

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

While I was reading the introductory paragraph I was all GLUE!!!!!!!!!
I understood before the third line and could not wait to read it!!!!!!
Once you mentioned how you presented your breakdown I just was taken back into my premature philosophy
Even the things we as African Descendants say.....EVEN THAT is linked to our history(many fail to realize)

    That was wonderful

    AND THEN........

Then I got to the Poem!!!!!!
    The gradual accent!!!!!!!!
    The transition
    I see You!!!!!
    I think you are a brother(correct me if i am wrong......please)
    I see you Brother:)
    We ARE off the Chain
and it is UP(not DOWN) to us to remain.........
    Maintain POSITIVE change
    Be and Stay Blessed:SuN020:

You know, there are so many things that we say, that we really don't know the true origins of. Your imagery was crystal, your plea for us to truly act as we have broken free, and to go forth, quite intense. This was outstanding.

    W.O.W. = Words Of Wisdom!!!

Your definition has taken on new dimensions, more deeply rooted. You have certainly dug from beneath to uproot old and bitter seeds to grow strong and beautifully upon our fertile minds. Thank you and Bless you & yours infinitum...
