Ode To Ronnie

I remember one day as a teenager, hanging at the pool room, I met a hustler named Ronnie.

His game was billiards and I watched him make bucks.

He taught me how to hold the cue stick, put english on the cue ball, and make bank shots,

Soon, I became one of the pool sharks on the block;

I've known many black hustlers, who were my mentors.

Each one had a profound effect upon me;

Many black men are geniuses who have been relegated to the street level.

Among them, my friend and mentor, Ronnie.

wow...memories from a younger time.

they called me "8-ball." my cousin was "black rock." we ran the tables.

when i was at Valley--Mississippi Valley State--i ran up on a guy who called himself "Da Lord." thought himself da shiznik on the table...'til i schooled him, righteously.

gotta have yo' hussle down if you wanna run dem streets

my great uncle taught me the game.

we all have mentors.

Nice.
