    I'm numb
    Devoid of feeling and emotion
    I was hurt
    At first
    Or rather
    I was angry
    Furious
    I was riddled with anger
    At myself
Becuase when you were painting vivid images
Of us as royalty resting on the plush decor of Cloud 9
    Immersed in our own greatness
While outsiders threw bricks at our plexiglass house
In a release of the hatred they harbor due to their own inferiority
That they couldn't achieve at close range
The one in a million shot
That we made eleven hours seperate
With the ease and elegance that only we had
And I believed every word you spun
Wrapping me in the bliss of ignorance
    Of trust
    But I'm quick to find
    Joy only resides
In the darkness of shut eyes
    Since once your vision returns
So does the pursuit of happiness
And here I stand with my eyes pryed open
I dont need 20/20 to see the betrayal
Even still he can pull my heartstrings
And forces me to dance for him
    I dance...

    But I'm numb
So though I can see the deceit
And comprehend what he has done to me
    I can't hate him
    Still I obsess and fret
I look inward for his excuse
    Any reason to excuse him
    And let him back in
Because I still want to love him
So I let him weave his web
    And trap me
    But I dont mind
Since I had long ago given him my heart
Convinced he was the only who could hold on long enough
To let me inhale the rejuvinating estacy he swore to uphold
He failed to keep his vow
Or to return the down payment of my heart
    Leaving me helplessly devoted
While he tugs at my heartstrings
    And like a puppet
    I dance...

My, my, my. This was so bittersweet.

Oh, the memories of laughter and tears, of hope and doubt, of joy and pain.

    This was so very poignant!

Sometimes a person can have a hold, that we can see the hurt coming, and we don't even duck. Such a well expressed piece, and yes time, and what we do with that time, heals much.
