Oh, in whom may I confide?
The goal is not to hide, but to combine
Have your pride - but please do not take one side.
And please keep those eyes open wide.

If one lacks one and so ‘dost’ the other,
Take them by the hand and call them your brother
Right man would make the effort. Something like “from another mother”
    Therefore seeing themselves in eachother.

One is not to blame for the rest.
He understands black power. There is no test.
He’s down for the loving and the kissing and the hugging
‘Gettin’ some is gettin’ some.’ He says, smiling and shrugging.
But you’ll never catch him hanging out with ‘the best’
Knowing if he did, he’d be labeled a pest
    (Well, he’s still a pest)

Oh, in whom may I confide?
What can I do but take it all in stride?
In hopes that we’ll venture further in due time
Just sit back and enjoy the ride.
