In a 2-1 ruling today, the Second Circuit Court of Appeal reversed the conviction of former Waterproof mayor Bobby Higginbotham, and vacated his sentence. The case had attracted the attention of civil rights activists around the U.S., as well as Color of Change, a national racial justice activism group, who had gathered 50,000 signatures appealing for freedom for the former mayor.
The ruling gives ammunition to defenders of Higginbotham, who said he was an innocent man being prosecuted for standing up against the white power structure of Tensas Parish and convicted in an unfair trial. However, the ruling by the Court of Appeals did not address the substance of the charges against Higginbotham, but focused on irregularities in the trial. The main reason cited was missing transcripts from the trial, caused by apparent problems with a sound recorder used by the court reporter. According to Higginbotham attorney Rachel Conner, there is no transcript at all for at least two witnesses' testimonies.
The former mayor was released from jail in December because of good behavior, but today's judgment means he is no longer on parole and no longer owes restitution. The DA has the option to appeal this ruling to a higher court....

After the Washington Capitals' Joel Ward scored the series-clinching overtime goal against the Boston Bruins in the Stanley Cup playoffs, pockets of Twitter exploded with racist messages directed at Ward, a Canadian whose parents are from Barbados.
Chirpstory, a website that compiles trending topics and conversations, listed many of the offensive tweets, many of which came from Bruins fans.

Are you still really surprised?? Why do black people keep searching for a reason to like/love white people??

Besides, what does this post have to do with 'not voting'?

I have yet to see what voting really means as the electoral college, at least for the presidency is the real chooser of the "commander in chief". A lot of slipperiness, a bunch of shuck and jive, enough of that will blind even the most astute to the ultimate goal in this here country. Now with that last sentence I typed I realize I currently have "free speech" so anyone that wants to go that route please take a ******* detour.

I remember talking to my eldest sister as we can talk freely about everything as she is as real as a person as I believe I am and we discussed about how quickly Obama was pronounced the victor at the time. We were stating that we never seen the presidency declared that quickly in history and do not try to claim the "technology makes it as such" type of thing, there was a plan in the works with all of this. There was always a plan that not everyone was privy to, maybe on a high-level (but not in tunes to real details... leads to my thoughts on religion but I will only state that for reference to what I am posting) but Obama whether knowingly or not was an important part of this plan.

To keep things on the level, my sister is a church-going person that believes in the Christianity and I am not sold on Christianity, yet I can admit when I do not conclusively know anything as far as religion goes but we can come to logical (in the human mind to precisely state it) conclusions on things. Stuff is really crazy and I really do not think too much of anyone is prepared for what is truly what no matter what they believe.

I'll still keep smiling in the face of the enemy as they tend to hate it (at least how I perceive things) and I love that they hate it.
