    Not on the line

    At first I didn’t understand
    Why you were always busy
Then I begin to see it was me
    I begin to observe
    Examining the things I say
    The things I heard

In public you would try to avoid me
    Or go the other way
When I called you’d get your sister to say
You couldn’t talk on the phone
Why didn’t you just tell me to leave you alone
    Always planning your next move
Didn’t know your plans I knew
I decided to play your lil game
Calling your house under another name
Found out you had caller ID
Use *67 so you wouldn’t know it was me
When you thought I was someone else
    You talked to me
When you knew it was me
You’d get off the phone more quickly

    After I found out
    What you were all about
I decided you weren’t worth my time

So don’t expect your phone to ring and me be on the line
