Back in darker times humans observed the emergence of beliefs in gods demanding that humans everywhere obey law-like commandments, etc.,

Depends on the Culture and Where...

Humans were even sacrificed to satisfy the imaginary needs of such gods, etc.

Thus, begun the idea that the gods will tend to be our masters and humans will tend to be their servants, they will bow down to them and they not to humans.

I do not believe that God wants to be our Master or wants us to be his Servants....
That is our understanding or misunderstanding of God - Depending on Time and Place..

Think of it - before the invention of Microscope all microscopic life was unknown and people like yourself laugh out loud at scientist who spoke about their existence.

Somewhere I heard or read some atheist claim that "We are all born atheists."

And I thought "What baloney!"

Atheism is the BELIEF that there is No God. No Evidence. It may be that all of the current concepts of God are wrong in part or totally.

Ignorance Rules! We just don't know it. Babies don't know either. LOL

I know at the end of the day it's all semantics but, atheism isn't a belief. It's actually a lack in belief. If atheism was the belief that there is no god, the burden of proof would lie on the atheist to prove/demonstrate that there is no god. It's like saying that if you find someone not guilty of something, it doesn't mean that they are innocent, it just means that they are not guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

It is like the use of the words have changed since the 60s.
An Agnostic lacks belief.
An Agnostic is not an Atheist.

While a person can be an agnostic atheist, the words have different meanings. Gnostic has to do with knowledge i.e. I "know" that my screen name here is "Da Flash" where theism is about belief i.e. I believe that the Lakers will win the championship this year. Gnosticism doesn't require faith as you would already have knowledge. Me believe the Lakers will win takes faith!!

I suppose that one could be a Gnostic Atheist or Theist but, I'm not quite sure how one would have that knowledge for sure.

In the past, when someone said that they were atheist, everyone took it to meant that the person believes that there is no god when in fact I say it to mean that there hasn't been a god story that makes sense in the real world. It has been said that Agnostics are atheist that are afraid to make a commitment.

What's the difference to you?
