We have a new moderating tool ... the ability to ban you from a specific thread.
If you see the above red notice in a thread, you've been banned from that thread.
You may be banned from threads if it's determined you're being disruptive in it.
If you are banned from a thread, you can still read it, but not post to it.
The ban can be for a set period of time, or permanently, and you'll receive an alert notifying you of the decision.

I imagine this functionality can be used for a variety of different scenarios, and we will be learning as we go.
Thread banning can actually be a good thing for the disruptive Member. Instead of being banned from the entire site, we may be able to use this option ... removing them from the thread / topic only ... allowing them to remain active in other threads if they'd like.
Of course it is good for our peace, encouraging respectful and substantive dialogue in discussions.
It's good for the discussion too, as it may be able to continue respectfully, if one or two are removed.
Let's see how it works for us ... should be good.
