    Peace and Blessings Family,

We have a new moderating tool ... the ability to ban you from a specific thread.

If you see the above red notice in a thread, you've been banned from that thread.

You may be banned from threads if it's determined you're being disruptive in it.

If you are banned from a thread, you can still read it, but not post to it.

The ban can be for a set period of time, or permanently, and you'll receive an alert notifying you of the decision.

We can all thank Kemetstry for going first ... he's been banned from the following thread :

Single Black Mothers - Don't Believe the Hype - Hold Your Head High!

I imagine this functionality can be used for a variety of different scenarios, and we will be learning as we go.

Thread banning can actually be a good thing for the disruptive Member. Instead of being banned from the entire site, we may be able to use this option ... removing them from the thread / topic only ... allowing them to remain active in other threads if they'd like.

Of course it is good for our peace, encouraging respectful and substantive dialogue in discussions.

It's good for the discussion too, as it may be able to continue respectfully, if one or two are removed.

Let's see how it works for us ... should be good.

If you have any questions, just ask.

    Much Love and Peace.

    Destee

Did Kem, like, volunteer? Or was he just being Kem? lol

I think this'll be a great tool! Keeping us all on our toes, making absolute certain we're actually contributing to the discussion and not just stirring up disrespect, disruption, and/or confusion. Great idea, Destee.

Thats a nice feature.. ( even better if the Thread creator could do it.. Give the Thread creators some tools to protect their discussions..)

    Can I ask..

what is the difference between Thread-level offenses and Site-level offenses? Or is it that any violation gets you kicked from the thread and also counts as some points toward being banned from the site?

In that I wasn't the one insulting people in the controversial thread, this will allow a convo to continue without the idiots escalating things to the ridiculous. Religion, politics, abortion, etc should be able to be discussed without it going to the level of playing the dozens. And in many cases, things have degenerated to, your momma's so fat her butt has three zip codes, because I don't agree with you. If you kick the initiator of this dumb stuff out. the convo can continue.

Now, a permanent ban may be extreme and should be used sparingly, but,.......

If you cant show me where I insulted someone, like some I could easily name, then you need to go back and look at some of your own threads and posts, dear. IJS :angel1:
