I've just learned the following from Brother Shikamaru's Foundational Constitutional Law Thread

Out of the hundreds of revolutions that occurred in the Americas, only TWO were successful in establishing permanent political independence:

1. The American Revolution and ...

2. The Haitian Revolution

Don't expect your public school history class to teach you that .

The US benefited indirectly from the Haitian Revolution by way of the Louisiana Purchase from France.

The Haitian Revolution shook the European world including the US.

The antebellum South was particularly concerned .... their "property" might get ideas ....

So please do add on ... start as many threads as you'd like ... about Haiti!
