Is a global food crisis avoidable?

The world’s agricultural methods need to be changed.

“The biggest hurdle we face is to try and teach about half a billion farmers globally to re-work their agricultural model to be carbon sensitive.” — Agriculture expert André Laperrière to Nature

Brazil has a crazy fascist president who is like Trump. He is in denial of climate change and want to deforest the Amazon to make way for drilling and farming $$$$$.

WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO DECLARE A CLIMATE EMERGENCY?

...We are living in a climate emergency without an emergency response. At a time when fossil fuels must be kept in the ground, the United States is increasing extraction of oil and gas and is rapidly becoming the world’s greatest climate threat.

New climate report warns of increasingly dire risks to U.S. and the Amazon Fires

https://www.axios.com/major-new-climate-report-warns-billions-losses-climate-change-159ba78c-41bd-462b-aa60-578f64878a85.html
Why it matters: The report by scientists from 13 federal agencies constitutes the second volume of the Fourth National Climate Assessment, which is a congressionally mandated report. Its conclusion: Lives and property are already at risk in the U.S. due to climate change...

'We Are in a Climate Emergency, America': Anchorage Hits 90 Degrees for First Time in Recorded History
"This is unprecedented. I tease people that Anchorage is the coolest city in the country—and climatically that is true—but right now we are seeing record heat," said Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz

"The Anchorage International Airport has just reached 89 degrees. The all-time record high temperature for Anchorage has officially been broken," the Anchorage National Weather Service announced in a tweet late Thursday (Photo: Shutterstock)

I really don't think we can stop it. We may can slow down the pace. But I think that the damage has been done. It would take a very radical change in the way we live to stop it. But greed and power will prevail.
Exactly Fireman, in fact, entropy (second law of thermodynamics) is central to the problem of climate change.

Alaska's sea ice has completely melted away

In the continually warming Arctic, sea ice has completely melted around the Alaskan coast before, notably during 2017's melt season, but never this early. "It's cleared earlier than it has in any other year," said Thoman (Sea ice starts regrowing again in the fall, when temperatures drop.)

Gentlemen there are few things at play here involving The Arctic Circle. First it's strategic significance is priority one for United States and Russian subsurface ballistic missile submarines as it's the only area that the submarines need no stealth assets because of the excessive noise released by the ever sliding shelf so they can move about completely undetected. They can broach the surface completely undetected launch their entire SLBM missile complement then dive and secure to their nearest patrol box before any surveillance assets can detect, identify, track and report their action and both navies are well within torpedo range of each other which increases the risk of an overt attack or through miscalculation a serious collision. Second since 2013 the international commercial fishing industry that follows no rules, laws or policies set by The International Maritime Organization have been moving toward The Arctic Circle following fish who have noticed the warmer water temperatures and they will deplete whatever marine life they can drift net including existing marine life declared off limits to any human intervention except marine research assets. Thirdly just last week the news reported a nuclear materials incident on the Arctic shoreline which has been discovered to have been the result of a nuclear fuel ignition incident involving a Russian nuclear missile or torpedo weapons program which is an obvious blatant violation of START. And Last but not least but more importantly President Trump knows all of this as he is apprised of every global incident no matter how trivial from the last 24 hours on a daily basis in his morning C.I.A, NSA, military and State Department briefs yet he has yet to mention or address these critical incidents since the international commercial fishing cartels are mostly Asian and President Putin obviously pre-authorizes everything President Trump says to the media. I do hope I am wrong but I dare say Earth just might be beyond repairing anything we have set forth toward our eventual demise.

Well said EverForward, thanks for the near expert basis of facts. The articulation and order in which the information is presented, speaks volumes to the thought processes used.
