Captured, tied , and enslaved together.
Transported many miles from home with her.
But now I want to stray?

Tortured by the hands of the white man with her.
Toiled the lands of the white man with her.
After I was brutally bull-whipped for taking one of massa's
ckickens to feed our children, she nursed me back to health.
    Putting my well-being before herself.
Knowing that if she was late getting tot he field,
she'd receive the same treatment that I was dealt.
    But she stayed.
    Now, I want to stray?

Together, we ran through the dark woods
    with freedom on our minds.
Together we received lashes across our bloodied backs
with our wrists joined in binds.
Through hardships & downfalls she was there to lift me up.
When I came home from a hard day's work,
    she was my pick-me-up.
I'd offer my seat in the back of the bus when a white man
in the front forced her to stand up.
When I became enraged with the state we were in,
    she was my soothing music.
    Now, I want to stray?

How can you be in a relationship
With someone of a race that you can't relate with?
They don't understand what it's like to be black in Amerikkka.
Our history here has created our present condition in this nation.
Their history here began with their voluntary immigration.
Many are naive to the ways we were violently mistreated,
How this country so desperately wanted the blackman
in Amerikkka deleted from their history.
Together, the blackman & woman was united through
    grief & misery.

But now that the storm clouds are passing over,
    I want to stray?
    Never that!
She was here for me & I'll be there for her, always.

this is the most touching piece I've read here today...
because it touches a subject that's very near and dear to me...
I loved the way you effectively showed, the struggle of times
past and how we still struggle togther...how could we not
understand each other as black man and black woman..

there should never be division between us...never
and I loved how you reinforced that in this beautiful
    piece of consciousness!

    Encore...

$$, mzblk, our mentals embrace with each word of appreciation, thank you.

angelic, I believe the bond that we share (blackman & woman) is the strongest of any other because of what we endured together.

What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger.

Thank you from the depths of my heart, mind, and soul.

    Peace.

I recently spoke 2 a beautiful soul about this, so here's my take on it.

My love 4 my sisters will never end.

So I present Never That, once again.

Much love. I feel so loved by this poem, it really really gave me a warm feeling. There are so many brothers that have strayed, it's nice to know that we still have love coming from somwhere. Thank you.
