#3 PITTS was on a 10-0 start falls to #13 TENNESSEE 83 -76 for their first lost !

PITTSBURGH -- Top 10, Top 5, Tennessee doesn't care. To the Volunteers, the only way to beat good teams is to play them, even if it's far away from Knoxville.
Even if it's in Pittsburgh, where non-conference opponents go years and years without winning.

Scotty Hopson missed only three shots while slicing through No. 3 Pitt's defense for a career-high 27 points and Tennessee (No. 13 ESPN/USA Today, No. 11 AP) dealt the Panthers their first nonconference loss in Pittsburgh in nearly six years, winning 83-76 on Saturday.

#19 UNLV stumble into a lost against NR-LOUISVILLE

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Rick Pitino can stop wondering if his surprising team is legit. At least for now.
Preston Knowles scored all 20 of his points in the second half and Louisville (No. 24 AP) remained unbeaten with a 77-69 win over UNLV (No. 19 ESPN/USA Today, No. 20 AP) on Saturday in the Billy Minardi Classic.

The victory gave the Cardinals (8-0) their first marquee win of the season. Louisville spent the early portion of its schedule overwhelming largely overmatched teams. Pitino pointed to the Rebels as an important test.

The Cardinals passed behind the play of Knowles, who shook off a miserable first half to play perhaps his best basketball of the year.

Last-second block preserves Texas A&M's upset of #22 Washington

When Washington's Isaiah Thomas got a steal with five seconds left and his team trailing by one point to Texas A&M, Aggies' coach Mark Turgeon had one thought.

"I hope they miss a shot," Turgeon said.

David Loubeau made sure they did.

Loubeau blocked a shot by Thomas as time expired and Texas A&M held on for a 63-62 win over Washington (No. 22 ESPN/USA Today, No. 21 AP) on Saturday.

#17
Illini (10-1)
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Illinois coach Bruce Weber talked Sunday night about what his team could achieve this season -- a top-10 ranking, and maybe more.
But what he saw on the court against lightly regarded Northern Colorado made Weber think his Illini (No. 17 ESPN/USA Today, No. 16 AP) right now are closer to ordinary than anything special.
The Illini (10-1) led by 19 at halftime and at least 10 during the whole second half, but their 86-76 win in front of a crowd kept small by snowy, windy weather was too close for Weber's comfort.

6-5 OAKLAND Golden Grizzlies

Keith Benson, Oakland upend #7 Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Oakland coach Greg Kampe kept telling his players they were just as good as the ranked opponents they have been playing this season. In their fourth game against a Top 25 team, they finally got their upset.
Keith Benson, last season's Summit League player of the year, had 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Golden Grizzlies to an 89-82 victory over No. 7 Tennessee on Tuesday night.
