... Is it possible to incorporate biblical understanding into politics family?

NC protests split on Bible's message to help poor

Associated Press/The News & Observer, Travis Long - A member of the clergy is among dozens of demonstrators arrested during an act of civil disobedience opposing the Republican legislature's agenda Monday, June 10, 2013, at the North Carolina State Legislative Building in Raleigh, N.C. More than 350 people have been arrested since "Moral Monday" demonstrations started on April 29. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and a growing number of left-leaning groups are lashing out at a host of GOP policies ranging from education to voting rights. RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Over the last two months, hundreds of protesters have walked out of North Carolina's capitol in handcuffs to show their opposition to policies by the GOP-controlledLegislature.

While a broader coalition of supporters is building around the "Moral Mondays" started by the state chapter of the NAACP, the inspiration behind the protests is a throwback to the biblical message of civil rights leaders fighting segregation in the Jim Crow era.

I'm so glad you posted this thread. I'm following the news and they just deomostrated again a few days ago about an abortion bill. I'm coming back to this thread.

I've been crazy busy this spring and summer. One of my sons just graduated from college and he is running me ragged.

Congratulations Chevron, it's quite an accomplishment, hats off to you and yours. Return when you can, your son's graduation is far more important.

This just goes to show you about all of the Rep. that invoke the bible, and recite quotes from it are hypocrites. The very people that has put this brutha in cuffs, will sit up in church Sunday and praise god and his teachings. The very teachings they are putting people in jail for trying to uphold them.

    Peace!

So true Enki, there is separation of church and state, but not the extent to which die-hard Republicans and Tea Party followers can legitimately infuse individualism and get away with denial of basic rights of the poor.

I love how you worded this, Bro. Clyde!

Individualism should not be infused to deny basic rights of the poor.

But it is so true what Bro. Enki said, in that some of these Repubs actually go to 'a church' and call on the name of God and do these kinds of things, like having this brother arrested for fighting for rights of the ppor, and these repubs are denying more than just basic rights of the poor but other human rights issues as well. They are thieves and liars...anti-christ.

Most definitely Chevron, Enki is on point with his comment.

Moreover, Rev. William Barber, considered leader of the "Moral Monday" movement, is not only a throwback of the Civil Rights era, but a real force on the battlefield:

With Hundreds of Arrests, North Carolina Preacher Ups the Stakes in Showdown With Republicans

    Moral Questions

Barber, 49, is the son of a minister who moved his family from Indianapolis to North Carolina during the civil rights movement so he could fight for integrated schools by enrolling his son in a segregated school. By the time he was in high school, the younger Barber was already active in the NAACP.
As an adult, he has bounced back and forth between public life — he was once executive director of the North Carolina Human Relations Commission — and the pulpit. He is now the head pastor of a Goldsboro church founded by freed slaves after the Civil War.
Barber has been an increasingly visible force in North Carolina politics since he became head of the NAACP in 2005.

The bible says both old testament and new that we are to help the poor. The conservatives are both heretical and hypocritical on this issue. You cant advocate for a Christian nation and gut the poor. They haven't come up with any jobs programs other than trust the rich, whom Jesus says basically, you cant trust. There is no split. The wing nuts are anti Christ
