    Tentative NBA labor deal reached
NBA owners and players reached a tentative agreement early Saturday to end the 149-day lockout and hope to begin the delayed season on Christmas Day.
Neither side provided many specifics but said the only words players and fans wanted to hear.
We want to play basketball," NBA commissioner David Stern said.
After a secret meeting earlier this week, the sides met for more than 15 hours Friday, working to try to save the season. This handshake deal, however, still must be ratified by both owners and players.
Stern said it was "subject to a variety of approvals and very complex machinations, but we're optimistic that will all come to pass and that the NBA season will begin Dec. 25."
Barring a change in scheduling, the 2011-12 season will open with the Boston Celtics at New York Knicks, followed by Miami at Dallas in an NBA Finals rematch before MVP Derrick Rose and Chicago close the tripleheader against Kobe Bryant and the Lakers.

This would start a 66 game season !

should we have had this reach long ago players getting 51%
when this was offered long ago and a better players deal at 50/50 or 51/49 ?

will the NBA be worth watching ???

    TOP FREE AGENTS

Memphis- Gasol / Dallas- Chandler / Denver- Nene

There are big-time decisions ahead for some of the NBA's brightest ballers.

Tim Duncan, Jamal Crawford, David West, Tyson Chandler and Caron Butler, among many others, could all be had -- for the right price.

And there's even more in store in 2012: Dwight Howard, Kevin Garnett, Deron Williams and Steve Nash can all hit the open market, and 2008 draftees like Derrick Rose, Kevin Love, Russell Westbrook and Brook Lopez

can join the fray as restricted free agents.

exactly. Professional Sports is the one place where the Athletes actually have the leverage.. They have the skill.. and they have the money to fund their own league.. There's no reason why they should not be in ownership positions.. NBA players could go on international tours and expand their league into an international affair.. with teams all over the world.. There's no reason they need to stick with that plantation system.. no reason at all.. Those teams should be owned by those players and coaches.. Every member should have an ownership stake.. and the money they bring in should be split by the size of their stake in the team. Each city stands to profit by owning their own stadium.. There's absolutely no reason why they should stay in that pimp game.. The owners get the Jersey and merchandise sales money.. The Players union has all of the power.. if they say no, then there's no league.. and they also have the power to halt the college pimp game.. those college players should be gauranteed full scholarships that continue until they graduate.. not just until they stop playing.. And trust me.. the numbers the players are making is peanuts compared to what they league is raking in.. All the pimps need to go.. the agents, the lawyers, the owners.. etc.. what kind of mess is that anyway... you come to work and find out you been traded to another team.. in another city.. for cash.. and your contract forbids you from being fully engaged in your community.. that's a pimp game for real...
