How big a deal is it to you that four Presidential Candidates did not attend the NAACP Presidential Forum? I don't really think it matters because just as in the last election, black voters vote overwhelmingly for the Democratic Candidate in the general election. I don't suspect that will change even if the Democratic nominee is one of the three Democratic candidates who missed this forum. I disagree with NAACP President Kweisi Mfume that the no-shows were "an afront to African-American voters and to the 94 year old NAACP." I am an African-American voter and I did not feel it was an affront to me that they did not show. I can understand why he would say it was an affront to the NAACP which is his organization. However, Mr. Mfume does not speak for me nor does his organization.
Mr. Mufume points out that the days of taking the black vote for granted are long gone..and I say Amen to that!
Now I am waiting for the day when African-Americans vote for the best candidate for this country and for all of its citizens which include African-Americans. If that candidate happens to be a Republican, Libertarian, or Independent it should not matter. The days of voting only for Democratic candidates need to be long gone as well. Our voting influence should be in every party's camp not just Democrats.
