    Surprised ?

"The nation’s largest civil rights group, the NAACP, endorsed gay marriage on Saturday, giving a boost to the movement to legalize same-sex nuptials despite reservations expressed by some black ministers.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People passed the resolution at its board meeting in Miami “as a continuation of its historic commitment to equal protection under the law,” the organization said.
“Civil marriage is a civil right and a matter of civil law"

    In the Spirit of Sankofa,

.......lol, It does surprise me to a degree Mercyless1803. But thanks for posting this information. Mr. Obama, I can understand his stance and reasoning, but not NAACP; oh well it hasn't been a Black Institution over 100 years anyway.

"Things grow in the direction of support". That's something I learned from a small garden I nurtured in my front yard. The larger american culture has embraced homosexuality at an institutional level.. Primary school curriculum has been altered.. New laws have been enacted.. State support has been granted at the highest levels of Government and also within the Media. There is the support.. now watch the growth.

Okay,....will Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, TD Jakes and many more high profile black leaders support the gays too? I already know Oprah, Gail, Tyra Banks, and many more will.

I'm not surprised that they would. They have to play it like they are for the human rights of ALL PEOPLE. The interesting thing to note here is that a majority of the members of the NAACP across the board are religious people and mostly christian. So, to want people to be treated fairly is one thing. But, to support same sex marriage goes against their holy books which calls this type of thing an abomination which caused their god's to destroy whole cities and wipe people out.

What does a decision like this from an organization of this stature say to our children?

    In the Spirit of Sankofa,

...... Again, you've made the issue plain skuderjaymes, with the pictorial and words. Its so gross I couldn't re-quote it; and it alone explains why the Bible, note I'm saying Bible, not Church, is against calling same sex union, marriage. Nonetheless, most Pastors are against homosexuality.

    In the Spirit of Sankofa,

.......Excellent question MsVeraisblessed, for real... This issue of Separation of Church and State is now front and center; and will eventually lead to this: America is the Fall before Rome.

yep and here is where people should see that there is an agenda here and thus a problem. Were not being asked to support it, we are encouraged and bombarded! Im all for whatever you want to do at home and even in public so long as it doesnt affect me and mine but the fact is that it does. Whats next? Are they gonna attempt to popularize and make legal bestiality? I see this as an assault on humanity...especially since the history of public acceptance of homosexuality has purely been European in nature. There is not one African nation in history that has accepted this as a valid way of life. Im not saying that Africans never practiced it, Im saying they've NEVER endorsed it and enacted laws to protect it in fact just the opposite has occurred.
