By myself I ride the subway
By myself I walk in the park
By myself I watch the sunrise
I’m by myself when light turns to dark

I sometime wonder how I’ve come to be so alone
How all of a sudden I’m the only one I know
    Have I not kept up?
Have I gone too far ahead?
Is it right I choose not to share my bed?

I’ve become very important to myself
I’m the captain, crew, and passenger of my life’s ship
Less important is sharing my life with someone else

For it is myself that must find a way
To be by myself each and every day
I myself am the person I call me
A person whose heart and soul are free

A journey is no shorter when taken alone
Tears are not fewer if there is a shoulder to cry on
A smile is still warm if given to no one

I’ll not call myself lonely because I’m alone
Nor dwell on a life lived with someone else
    I’m very comfortable with me
    Living for and by myself

    BE

Well said Poet. Sad indeed is the person who is
miserable in his own company. I find a certain comfort
    in being by Myself.

    At first blush

this piece seemed to convey a melancholy mood...but upon reading a second time, you took me deeper. And though the words appear to be somber and sad, the message is far from mournful.

And the verse of the morning for me is:

A journey is no shorter when taken alone
Tears are not fewer if there is a shoulder to cry on
A smile is still warm if given to no one

You just not somebody to be read lightly, BE. :)

    Thank you
