In the news I see chaos over flowin Homes and trees violently blowin My people runnin fast but aint goin No where they wanna be Cause we Cant see the "Bush’s" for the trees Women and babies we cant hear there pleas For help, cause the screams of others drown out the sorrow Hopin the tragic nights will be better tomorrow. But why, if there aint no where to go Living life fast but death is slow The tide is rising, but help is a no show While men stand behind podiums they smile and dance We getting wiped out by the thousands without even a chance. Did they care or did they know If they did they didnt show Cause Man ain’t no match When Mother nature’s wind’s blow Herding us in like livestock On the auction block. Stacked up like slaves of old, tryin To wait us out till the blood in our veins go from warm To cold But we were told We were free In the land of milk and honey My American pie is sour, Didn’t think it could get any worse, after the Twin Towers Fell, Now America knows my hell That we have walked in day to day But we still pray Knees are sore from kneelin Now we lookin through the hole in the cielin I just can’t escape the feeling of “so what”, when the water rose But now lies that have been spoken for years were exposed For the whole world to see. When tragedy strikes The mistakes grow large in number, While we lay in our own waste, In a nightmarish slumber. I wonder, Will this wake up, the public To what we have known since we came here on that long trip. Equality ain’t for all, Just for the ones that leave….a good tip.
