Your knuckles to the bone
Your fingers split and blistered
Sun up to sun down
You've worked so hard

So tired you were
But always with a smile
Enough love for everyone
So much love
We never missed a material beat
We smiled at your radiant face
Never once noticing the blisters on your feet

Your sacrifice will never be forgotton
You've given me your strength
From picking tobacco and cotton
The sweat from your brow
My life liquid to move on
Quenching the thirst
Of all elements to succeed at what I do
When I need a little more umph
I'm inspired by you

did you say "umph" ????

wow Heartbeat ... gosh ... you don't know this
but whenever i felt low another step i couldn't go
i'd call my Momma, say i'm on my way
cause i needed more umph to make the day

wow

thank you for this
