Quiet Poetry Lounge : My Thoughts on a Dieing Country

The United States of America
We are headed straight for destruction
Spending trillions of dollars a day on war
When we have hundreds homeless people
Walking the streets of our nations' capital.
We can find money to feed the hungry in
Africa, Thailand and Cambodia
But we let our people
STARVE!
Like mangy dogs in back alley ways
We send medicine for the
Sick in other countries
Yet our elderly can't
Afford their perscriptions.
We send money to AIDs
Patients in Afrifca while
U.S. citizens struggle
to live with the virus
We are so proud of
Our country because
We 'help' others
But doesn't charity begin at home?​
