dedicated to the child I chose

    so many tears later
    I see the wisdom only
    experience can bring,
glowing in your young woman eyes

so many fears now laid aside
    you never have to doubt
    how much I love you
for you, there is no price too high

    when I first took your
    small hands in mine
    maybe I really didn't know
how much pain we'd have to suffer
how far apart/together we'd have to grow

I only knew I loved your little face
and the way your eager eyes trusted
    the promises in mine

together, without a map to guide us,
    and defying what people said...
feeling our way toward each other
believing we could make it, we moved
    straight ahead

    the treadmill stretched
    endlessly before us, and caused
    my feet to sometimes slip
    impatience rose between us
and our fingers lost their grip

    but we had prayed together
and you knew what was true
    even through your trials
    God was keeping you

    now,
many tears later, I see wisdom
glowing in those grown-up daughter eyes,
I'm thankful for the lessons learned
    when a loving mother cries

the way you love your children is a thing of beauty. There is no doubt your chosen one is loved no less than the ones you bore. And because you were also a special gift to her, her heart is bound to you, even more.

I am touched this evening, Queen. You express yourself in ways that draw the reader deep into all you do.

    thank you

    Perhaps

the lateness of the hour makes my eyes tear up, Alyce. Or perhaps it's because you move me with every word you write. Beautiful, dear one.

    Further evidence.

    at my babies when they

    i imagine this peace reflects
    how i'll probably feel
