    My Protest

I do not have a protest
    Nothing that ravages my heart
    In utter detest
Do I sing my blues or
    Stand for liberty, justice
    For you?
    Do I thread rhymes
    Strung on stanza
    Sown on a page
To be worn like a quilt?
While you’re warm underneath these words
I have no more heat for my frail soul
I write in the hope that after reading
    your warm eyes catch mine
    and your smile beckons mine
and a hello is all it takes to make you
    mine
you tell me all you need is me
but I need more than you
I can’t be bound to one man,
    So, I trade
You for me, cold and freedom
And your eyes still catch mine
And your smile still beckons mine
But I remember how much you cost

wow....This was beautifully expressed but also sad to me.

It feels like pushing with one hand and pulling with the other and can't figure out why.

    poignant and somber.

Good piece though...but it feels mournful to me.

    ahhh...

    But you protest loudly
    Your distaste for me
    Once a trusted soldier
    Now...a refugee
    Cast out from the shadows
    Of your undying love
    For what…one infraction
That’s all I can think of

    I’ve been robbed.
