My life with the bin Ladens
    July 19, 2004

IMAGINE calling a restaurant to make a reservation and leaving your name: bin Ladin. Imagine applying for a job or a visa to visit the US.

Being bin Ladin ... Carmen is saddled with a name synonymous with terror.

Imagine being the only bin Ladin listed in the phone book on September 11 and the consequent hate mail and threats, not to mention the sheer embarrassment of being associated with the world's most wanted man.

I found this to be informative and interesting.

Changing her name would eliminate most of her concerns and fears. The family doesn't support her, and her daughter has trouble getting work as an attorney. It makes sense to me. Put a :bazooka: to the old name. A name change is in order!
