    Theres a place
    not far from from here
a place where dreams are dreamt
and for their lives even children fear
a place where crime is at your front door
a place where justice roams no more
this place is full of ****** they say
this place is where my family was raised
this place this place is my ghetto

sirens i hear everytime I awake
the sound of the cries of one mans mistake
my close friend died infront of my house the other day
he tried to slow down but was a moment too late.
his mother is sick and he was her only hope
he had no chance for a real job so all he did was sale dope
this place this place is my ghetto

    knock knock on the door
dam its 6 in the morning
    its the lady next door
and her house is a smoking
her 5 year old she can not find
two hours later they find him inside
the house is burnt to the ground
now a black single mother again lives alone
this place this place is my ghetto

Its saturday and its bright outside
    the birds a singing
    radios playing loud
hear comes huck ridin on his 22s
    while all the children play.....
freeze tag and the base is a horse shoe
me im braiding hair on my front porch
this place this place is my ghetto

the smell of home cooked food is even there
happiness and joy filling the air
kids being loud and running around
    but when dark comes
eveyone remembers what they were told
"dont let the night catch you,
come in when the street light come on"
This place this place is my ghetto

Im pround of the place where i have grown
the place that taught me lifes lesson
and gave me the knowledge to understand
that you have to go through things to get somewhere
This place that taught me how to protect myself
this place this place is my ghetto
