She is a 65 year old Black woman. She told me the strangest thing. Now we live down here in Northeast Texas which makes it even stranger.

Anyway there was a Black man who would knock on her window at night telling her he loved her. When she moved to a retirement community he somehow found out where she lived and came to knock on her livingroom and bedroom windows at night. That's not the strange part. The strange part is that one of her neighbors. an old White man, told the Black man that if he catches him knocking on her window again he would kill him.

I was astonished: A White man in this down south, bible belt, bush country, one movie theater town defending a Black woman against a Blackman! Hello? Comments?

Hmmmm? The only thing that comes to mind about this story is the fact that indeed you are in the south, and that white men still have a sense of self-righteousness and ownership.

ain't so much defending a Black Woman as "protecting the neighborhood from lowlife", i would imagine.

ah to have that much love for someone!! truly a pity that he hasn't spoken directly to her, yet ...

    Hmmmm...........

Being that he is an older white man in the south, he may be using this as an excuse to vent his anger towards Black men in general. Then again this may just be a concerned neighbor. If the elderly Black woman didn't ask for the whitemans "protection", then I'd have to go with the first reasoning.

All white folk ain't racist no more so than all Black folk are righteous...there's good and bad in all groups....when I was a kid growing up in Mississippi our backyard neighbor was a commercial fisherman an Italian cat and my Daddy liked old boy and he liked my Daddy who wasn't real hot on White folk in the first place....dude used to hook the fish up for my old man....never charged anything did it just because them two was people....it was funny as he was the only white dude living in that side of town......but my point is maybe old boy is good folk and was looking out for his neighbor....it's good folk even in Northeast TX just like in Mississippi...dismiss folk on their actions not on the color of their skin..
