Why did she come here tonight?
Why is she wearing that dress?
Why does she keep staring at me?
Like this is some type of test?
Why am I pondering these thoughts?
Of these interests I cannot confess?
Why does the angel to my right say no,
While the devil to my left says yes?
I’m thinking of troubles in my home
While, I’m seeing all of her charms
Thinking of how good it could feel
Yet, feeling how it can create harm
Accountability giving me warning
To my right, I can hear his alarm
Yet, temptation keeps on pulling
To my left, keeps tugging my arm
Her gaze at me stays consistent
Now, she’s even giving a wink
The voice in my left ear saying, “GO!...
She wants you to by her a drink
A little wine and a little conversation
Following your masculine instinct"…
But, then I here the voice in my right ear
Reminding me to, “Think!...”
"So much you've built to be destroyed
With the little satisfaction gained
So much of life you live at stake
When you’ll barely know her name
Will you gamble with the vows you made?
Or will you find it in yourself to refrain?
And will you be able to save your home?
When it comes time to explain”
To my left I hear, “See the sexy smile?
And the precious soft brown skin?
She’s promiscuous and she’s tipsy,
You can see it in her how she grins
You know she’ll take your hand
If you decide to extend
If decide to take her home,
You know she’ll let you in”
Then in my right ear again I’m reminded
“This is a game that’s hard to win
Somehow skeletons like these
Fall out of the closet in the end
Creating contempt with your Lord,
Because it will be a sin
Creating divisions in your home
That may be impossible to mend.”
