    Look at me
Tell me the image that u see
Is it yours or the one society painted of me
do i fit the stereotype of a criminal
Well its the message sent in the subliminal
I am the impression of others the expression of my time
from the way I'm dress to the way i talk
To the hippity hop of my walk
    Look at me
    tell me what you see
is it your image or the one society created of me
    from design of my clothes
    to my natural hair
    approach me if u dare
dont be consumed by the unknowing fear
    and you will see
what truth lies behind the image society created of me
i am not lazy nor crazy or prone to sexual promisucity
i'm not a whore or a deliquent as histories depiction would have me be
I had a father in my home and i didn't grow up in the streets
and believe it or not i ain't a drop out or a deadbeat
i am just plain old me
    i am educated
    i am sophisticated
I even got a little religion
I'm a creation of my past
history has made me this way
    I'm hardworking
    And I'm strong
For I'm a product of my ancestors
i can adapt to any situation
Making the best from the worst
Holding my beliefs strong no matter what comes of me
I'm the creation society doesn't want u to see
    I'm living history
Not the image it made for me
But you see what you want to see
I see you when you clutch you purse tighter
When I get within fifty feet of your person
Or how you lock the doors of your Bentley
As I jaywalk across the busy street
Why does my image bring the fear to your eye
Again I say look at me
Take a good look at what i be
    When will you truly see
That I am the mirror image of thee
We are two sides of the same coin
For they owe you 40 acres and a mule too

Yes, to read your poetic description, we wouldn't initially think that this same person would be a brother, or a sister, or would we? And the ending was perfect. Posed to perfection, your pen is on fire.
