You were my brother
from another mother
what's mines, was yours
and vice versa
that's why i can write this
with absolutely no rehearsal
as youngin's we was live wires
always had it poppin'
just tryin' to live life to the fullest
ti'll the earth felt like stoppin'
old heads even admired us
said we were ahead of our time
but let me slow down
cause i'm gettin' ahead of my rhyme
everybody knew you to be kind of loud
who me, assassin type quiet
if you had beef, then i had beef
in the ft. apache section started 1 or 2 riots
or like that night on 155th
across the street from the ruckers
chillin' with some girls
when some dudes from the polo grounds mistook us for 2 suckas
i calmy told them atras de una puta vezin
and they all stopped poppin' ish and paused
that's when we both started to slowly reach
for what we had in our draws

you was my brother from day one
what's yours was mine and what's mine was yours
if peter don't let you in the pearly gates
tell the angels that i'm coming thru to clap down the doors

From the streets to the ball court
you always had the feel
we played one on one full courts in front of crowds
not even keepin' score cause we was keepin' it real
had your eye on the nba
tryout with the nets, but fell a step short
and came right back to the streets
cause that's where we held court
we had many memorable summers
like the philly greek fests and jones beach
where b.i.g. First Performed party and bull – ish
with heavy d and little cease right there within arms reach
the tailgate parties at the meadowlands
pushin' up on cuties from the south in the parking lot twisted
when they would ask us for our names
we would often reply 'they call me young, black & gifted'
all the basement parties
and the battles in the park
where the power from street lamps
made the place spark
couldn't believe it
when they told me what happened
last time I saw you was the night
I threw my plate at that cook in manhattan
the same night they murdered X
I wrote about it in 'Redrum'
couldn't post pt. 2 due to the lack of the statute of limitation
on murder so I was limited and then some

you was my brother from day one
what's yours was mine and what's mine was yours
if peter don't let you in the pearly gates
tell the angels that i'm coming thru to clap down the doors

Over the years we got departed
so many cats in our ears
even the one who gave me the news sounded fake
cause what was coming out his mouth wasn't matching his tears
so I had a sit down with your older cousin
who gave me confirmation
that's when I blacked out and went home
and spent the rest of the day in silent meditation
reflecting on different situations
like when you were under investigation
repeatedly violating probation
that had you barely ducking incarceration
but eventually led up to your ultimate destination
I guess heaven was waitin'
and got tired of seeing you facin'
all your trials and tribulations
when I chose the books over the streets
I know why you didn't come wit' me
cause you knew if you had beef, I still had beef
and you could always call or come get me
and now I gotta be patient
ti'll I get to see you again
from the cradle to the grave
you still my mutha F'n friend....................

you was my brother from day one
what's yours was mine and what's mine was yours
if peter don't let you in the pearly gates
tell the angels that i'm coming thru to clap down the doors

Peace God....
Now why you wanna make me cry...
I was so excited to be reading you and the next thing
I know my face is wet.....you got me with this one.
I'm so sorry about your lost but I know you know he's
always in your heart and I can tell from the words you penned
that no matter what he will ALWAYS be your friend.
Beautifully penned from start to end!

Much Peace & Luv,
4EVER:heart:
