    I got Soul

    You see
    I got soul
    like Nat King Cole
    soothing my spirit
    taking me to places
    unknown
like the sultry do woop, woop sounds
    of John Coltrane
    taking my minds
    to places never gone before
    begin to zone out
    into a deep trance
    my soul becomes peaceful
    still
    my spirit becomes
    free and beautiful
    like the music
that beats deep within my soul
    like the rhythm
    of the drums
    takes my soul
    back into time, time when
    I was first born
with the rhythm of the drums
    taking my soul
    to places never gone before
    begin to float
    on the water
    free
as if I did not have wings
    letting my soul guide
    me on my path
    in the light
    smiling beautiful
    looking innocent
    see I got soul
    like the music
    that I hear deep within
    my body
    taking my soul
    to places where
    there is peace, rhythm, love
    unity and prosperity
    healing and spiritual bondage
    taking place
where the rhythms in my soul
    moves like the lyrics
    that I massage mankind
    universe
    penetrating and uplifting spirits
    of broken souls
    filled with hate
    riots and slavery
break these illusions in the minds
    of the broken souls
    fill them with thoughts
    of the rhythm and music
    for my soul
    flows like the jazzy lyrics
    of Louis Armstrong
    spoken words go unspoken
    flowing smooth like the waves
    in the river
    of Langston Hughes
    see I got soul
    like a warrior
    righteously moving the universe
    with dignity, courage, and hope
    for my soul
    does not reep for pain
    cry for freedom
only calls for peace and love
    in this universe
    dreaded with war
    crimes and pollution
    killing the minds of mankind
    for I got soul
    in it is my soul
leads me to valleys of the river
where I can bough my head
    before the spirits above
    lifts my soul
each and every day that I arise
    with the first breath
    of peace and hope
knowing that my days are not over
until I have fulfilled my destiny
as I go through the valleys
    my soul beats
    a soft note
    of peace

    And God Loves Me

    yes he does
    he protects me
    to my triumphs

    in my sickness and sadness
    when I am feeling
all in despair and awe about my life

    he watches over me

    when I am weak
    feeling down

like I can not rise above

    fly high into the world
    with my arms
    full of life and beauty

    no drama can interfere
in my paths of love and light
    no down faults
nor ignorance will pull me down

no false fiction images of society
    will pull me down
    'cause God loves me
    shows me

    how to rise above
    the illusions and sustained with
    conclusions of living my life
    peacefully and beautifully

    'cause God loves me

with all of his heart and might
    for my kingdom will come
    thy will be done
thy kingdom is full of life and love
    peace and prosperity

    but still God loves me
    yes he does

    through everything
    God loves me
