It was an all to familiar game
A game I truly understand
My heart was flipped, turned, and moved all around
Like Three Card Monty and other slights of hand
I ended up being a flash in your pan

Can't say I didn't see it coming
Can't say you played me for a fool
But as it turned out, like other times before
I became a disposable tool

Leading me down love's highway
You teased my every desire
You made me feel this was something real
And yes, oh yes, you set my soul on fire

But without the kindling of love and truth
The fire was quickly extinguished
And before it had a chance to begin
This relationship is rightly finished

No need for you to feel guilty
It's better for me to know sooner than later
I don't think of you any more or any less
I've been there before, I've done it myself

So like you, the pain will become a memory
And my search for true love will begin
You'll be filed under the category called "Yesterday"
Which follows the one called "Remember When"

I'm all grown up
This is part of life
Don't know if it would have worked anyway
Just thankful I'm able to move on
And live to love yet another day
