Black People : Movie: Leave The World Behind(2023)

It was a good movie but I wish the ending was better or at least made a sequel more obvious.

Of course, the biggest thing (white) people are talking(crying) about is the simple fact that race was brought into it because the daughter said that trust should not be given so easily in a situation like this. And she says "especially white people".

But this just illustrates how clueless so many white people are about racial issues. Clueless, not because they're all equally racist but because they're so ignorant when it comes to their own history or how racist other white people are that it doesn't even occur to them that trusting them based on color would be a problem. And no, it's not just "any color". It's specifically "don't trust the people who invented race in the first place to have an advantage at survival even when the world isn't coming to an end. We're talking about people who use their race against others on a regular basis. We even came up with the name Karen to accurately describe that kind of overt behavior.

And there are exceptions. My coworker who is white completely understands not trusting white people. But she's different because she knows more about race and racial history and issues than the average white person. And she's not afraid to ask me questions to get better informed. Other white people don't typically do that because they either don't care or they're happy with the status quo running in their favor.

But yes, it's true. Marginalized groups are experts in the ways in which they are marginalized. Oppressed groups have every reason and motive to understand the whys and hows of their oppression. But the ones doing it? The ones who simply exist on the same "team" as the oppressors? What they don't understand is that it is their (White) privilege that allows them to be ignorant. And it is that ignorance that they're speaking out of when they're crying about race being brought up. These geniuses actually think their ignorance is a good thing and that racism will go away if they ignore it. But again... even thinking this might work is a LUXURY that black people don't and cannot afford to have.

So in an actual zombie apocalypse, not one written for TV, the reality is that race will definitely play a role in how people cooperate with each other for survival. We're just more honest about it.

The other thing I wanted to talk about with this movie is just who the "bad guys" are.

My wife thinks it's a hacker group similar to Live Free or Die Hard. But I don't think so. The movie seems to suggest different countries may be behind it but these are also plot devices that the movie uses to solidify the plan of misdirection and mass confusion. Imagine if the military is fed false information and then attacks Russia or Iran. That would only make things worse and potentially cause those countries to ally against us which is another possibility that people think could have been the case. But I don't think so.

If other countries had allied against us I see no reason they would push propaganda claiming it was one of them instead of a coalition. My wife thinks it may have been rebel forces because of the bunker message. But again... that assumes that the military (who would be the main targets of the plan) would have the best information. But were they prepared? No. The guy that G.H. knew seemed to be better informed.

My guess is that the real bad guy was AI. AI would have the necessary ability and capacity to hack so many systems at the same time and without human reaction time being able to intervene. We have fail safes and employ white hat hacker to work as cyber security. But none of them seem to have been effective. No one heard advanced chatter online or anything. Either this is the best kept secret ever or there really wasn't a lot of people who were in on it. If foreign countries were involved I think we'd see troop movements and resources being diverted. Not to mention, if they have spies that could hack us we have spies that could tell us what they were planning. But AI is a wild card. The only allies it needs are connected systems it can remotely operate. And all the destruction we saw were carried out by 'drones'. And the plan wasn't that we would be weakened and then a military operation would finish us off. The plan was for us to finish ourselves off under the right circumstances. That, to me, says AI.
