I'm not really into love poems but this is about my best friend...*sigh*

From watching cartoons in fruit of the looms
to sharing words on the same stage
words on a page
it was more than that
but she didn't understand
just wanted you to be her man
the words you said
not from the page you read
but from the heart they bled
still she didn't get it
so she never felt connected
just blamed me for why she felt disconnected
we were just friends
going through life's phases and trends
giving advice on everything and anything
boyfriends and girlfriends
and so many other things
we were just friends
you tried to let her in
creating a map drawn by words to guide her beyond the surface; the core of your soul within
but the words were foreign
she didn't comprehend
and concluded the problem was me your friend
and told me if my motives were really to see you happy
I would leave
so I did sadly
always remembering simpler days
of two young kids watching cartoons in fruit of the looms
now here we are again sharing a stage
like it was yesterday
giving back rubs and hand massages
funny how now
I remember all those moments
we came so close to being more than friends
when will we have the courage to see
that somehow we evolved
no longer are we just friends...
