Bruh...when I read this, I said d#am...how did he do it..

I've had to deal this that system before and you got it right....keep it moving if you don't know what da deal is....

Peace!

That black gangs are running rampant through the streets. We know this because all 40 of the shootings over the weekend were perped by black gangs..... e.g., no white man came home and found his wife in bed with another man and shot him. No kid found a gun in the closet and playing stick 'em up, shot his brother. Oh, and there are no white or even Latino gangs in Chicago, and if there are, they fight with their fists. Not to mention, white boys wouldn't know the butt end of a gun, much less take one to school and shoot up everybody he sees. Nope, 40 people got shot in Chicago and all 40 were black and shot by black gang-bangers. :)
:toast:

Facts are facts...We just have to own up to them...

Peace!

I'm going to have to roll with Khasm on this point. While there is no absolutes, what he says is the truth. Chi isn't like your normal city IMO, lets take public housing for example. The jects was a good idea on paper, but in reality, it turned into a nightmare. The one's I lived in was a "U" configuration, and you could literally stand in front of one and throw a rock and hit the next one. Each ject held on average 1000 people.

What you have in the Chi. is a situation where the violence has made the people prisoners in their own community. Because shooting are commonly occurring near schools and play areas, people are not their children to walk the short distance to school. And many people don't have day care so they can't leave the house for work or even short trips to the grocery store.

This can, and has brought communities to a debilitating halt.

Brutha Khasm said that he works for CPS, IMO opinion...you need to let that sleeping dog lay. You don't even have a clue the situation they are faced with. They don't have subsidized guardianship just because it sounds good. I had to take custody of my sister's three kids, and the systems was only too happy to help me...Ask yourself why?

Peace!

Enki the amount of public services you can receive here is off the charts. From free housing, phones, link card, free day care with meals, free insurance...they will even come put in a new furnace for free(liheap program) or come weatherize your house with new doors, windows, insulation, furnace...Whatever your biggest need is. These services also come with smoke detectors, co2 detectors and fire extinguishers......heck their is even a place once a month that you can go get free dog food.

Point being...I am sorry to say that not being able to leave the house for work because of daycare is very incorrect.

here is a tidbit from just one of the programs I found in 5 secs of looking......

http://www.cityofchicago.org/city/en/depts/fss/provdrs/child/svcs/preschool_programs.html

Head Start is an early childcare and education program for children ages 3 to 5 from low-income families. The comprehensive program promotes school readiness, provides nutritious meals and access to free medical and dental services. In addition, Head Start offers parents educational and training programs.
Federally funded and administered by FSS, Head Start has locations throughout the city in community-based organizations, private day care programs and Chicago Public Schools. Head Start children get the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond

Another perspective of Chicago, and the Robert Taylor Projects... Oh! Written by moi :) in another time and another place when Al Sharpton thought to set up shop in Chicago :

If Sharpton comes to Chicago, he'd better come correct. Growing up in a crucible of racism and segregation, black Chicagoans are the most politically astute AAs in the country (which ain't saying much  ). Because the white folk don't play "smiley" games with blacks as much as they do elsewhere, they are more demanding and confrontative of YT and the system than most AAs (the last time I looked, black Chicagoans filed more federal racial discrimination cases in one year than almost all other blacks in the country, combined). Which is why so many civil rights figures emigrate there.

For ex., I was at a, for Chicago, normal meeting of black nationalists in the 1980's where the brilliant Ron Karenga (who invented Kwanzaa) was invited to speak. The crowd was boisterous, passionate, throwing questions at him left and right when the host of the event intervened and apologized to Karenga who was looking somewhat stunned. Karenga looked across the crowd with that wide-eyed look and assured the host that he wasn't upset. To the contrary, turns out the people in California, he said, would have sat through his presentation, asked a few polite questions and that would have been the end of it (at which point, the audience looked stunned to realize other AAs were not still imbued with the activism of the 1960's).

As for dirty politics, when a co-worker in another city told me the book, "Boss", about the legendary mayor, Richard J. Daley, Sr., was required reading in a political-science class at his university, the black Chicagoans listening were surprised. It's not considered that great or "astute" a book there, more "meh...." They were also surprised when we were discussing an article on President Johnson that purported to show his masterful political wheeling and dealing. While those from other cities and town were impressed, the Chicagoans, average people all, thought Johnson, nicknamed "The Great Manipulator", politically crude and "unsophisticated".

Ex., Robert Taylor was a sharp, decades in office, black Chicago alderman. He fought his whole political career successfully to keep high-rise projects out of the black community. He saw it as a ploy to segregate and ghettoize black Chicagoans on the smallest space of land possible. After he died, whites on the city council named the first hi-rise PJ they constructed (which became one of the worst in the nation) after him. They couldn't beat him alive, so they beat him dead... and played a joke on him, to boot.

Dirty politics? Sharpton ain't seen dirty politics. He'll come like all the others - Martin Luther King, Jr., Jessie (the most successful civil rights transplant), a host of lesser-knowns - thinking he knows everything, and with a city of entrenched AAs willing to buck whites and the system, that he'll make a difference. Like most, he'll make a few waves then find himself reeling, twisting in the wind under the machinations of City Hall and either fade away, run away, or like Jesse, hang on for relevancy in a small organization (Rainbow Push) but with a national spotlight. Or like Obama, another young, bright black transplant to the city who knew it all and got mauled in Chicago politics.

My advice to Sharpton would be to study the Battered Wife Syndrome before coming to the city. First the honeymoon phase (with white Chicago politcians) where he'll feel on top of the world, and like most 'smart' black emigrants, that native Chicagoans are stupid..... then the beatings begin.
